Industrial Pond Dredging

Project Permitting & Compliance

AWS has written and managed dredging permits for a wide variety of projects.  The majority of these projects have consisted of safety and air and water discharge compliance.  AWS has experience working with both the regulatory agencies to ease permit requirements and to improve water quality at the discharge.  Because of AWS’ involvement, existing fines were reduced or removed.

Permits & Regulations

As part of your overall project, our experts work with you to ensure that your project proceeds with the proper permits and complies with federal, state and local regulations.

The permitting requirement for your site will be determined largely by three factors:

  1. Where the dredging project will occur (waterway, private lake, industrial lagoon, etc.)
  2. What is to be removed (sediment, sludge, biosolids, vegetation, etc.)
  3. Where the material is to be disposed (land application, landifll, earthwork, etc.)

Frequently, the following agencies and governing bodies are involved in the permit and regulatory process:

  • Army Corps of Engineers
  • Environmental Protection Agency
  • Department of Water Qualtiy
  • U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife
  • Department of Water Resources
  • Conservation Agencies

We encourage our clients to begin the regulatory aspect of the dredging project well in advance of the project initiation date. Complete regulatory approval may be a 6 to 12 month process.
